Mark 4:26closeMark 4:26 The Parable of the Seed Growing 26 And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. (ESV) In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus said, “so is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground and should sleep and rise night and day and this seed should spring and grow up he knows not how, for the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself, first the blade, then the ear after that the full corn in the ear. Verse 29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest is come”.

Ladies and gentlemen, harvest has come. Jesus is telling us that the Kingdom of God, not the kingdom of this world, but the Kingdom of God works like this. That if a man should cast seed into the ground. . . what is the seed. It is the Word of God. Can money be a seed? Absolutely. The person who is casting the seed is us, it is not God. We do the casting and sowing.

Verse 27 says we sleep night and day and our seed springs and grows up we know not how. We sow the seed, then what happens is God, the creator of heaven and earth performs this amazing miraculous plan that takes the tiniest of seeds and causes this amazing growth to take place. Hallelujah!

God says; You have planted, now step back and watch what I do, you planted, so you go to sleep. Sleep day and night. And what does the Bible say about God? He neither sleeps nor slumbers, so our job is simply to plant the seed.

And this is a miracle. It is a miracle to think there’s a tree out here, that all these trees they all started how, by a little tiny seed. The trees didn’t just show up huge one day. It is funny if you drive by construction sites, suddenly you’ll see this huge palm tree. They’ve brought it on a truck and put it in the ground, it didn’t just happen like that. That palm tree started as a little seed.

It says that we sleep and rise, night and day, the seed grows but we don’t know how. God takes care of the process of the seed doing what it must do. Verse 28, And the earth brings forth fruit of herself (God designed it this way) first is the blade, then the ear, and after the full corn in the ear.

Mark 4:29closeMark 4:29 29 But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.” (ESV) says, But when the fruit is brought forth immediately who puts in the sickle? It says “he” puts in the sickle, that means it is you and me! It is not up to God to put forth the sickle and go get your harvest. And what’s the sickle? The sickle is the Word of God.

Right now we are taking the opportunity to harvest our own fields. Look at Proverbs 10:4-5closeProverbs 10:4-5 A slack hand causes poverty,
but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
He who gathers in summer is a prudent son,
but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame. (ESV)
, “He becomes poor that deals with the slack hand, but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. He that gathers in summer is a wise man, but he that sleeps in harvest causes shame.” I’ll ask you, is it possible when the harvest is ripe and ready, is it possible to sleep? And is it possible when the harvest is due to be brought in, to be caught sleeping? Absolutely, if we’re not wise.

Look at Ecclesiastes 11:4closeEcclesiastes 11:4 He who observes the wind will not sow,
and he who regards the clouds will not reap. (ESV)
, “He that observes the wind shall not sow; and he that regards the clouds shall not reap.” Notice this says he, it is referring to us. We are the ones that do this, we are the ones that do the sowing and the reaping. God does not do the reaping for us.

Can you imagine if a farmer has a bumper crop out there, but he looks out at the clouds. The farmer says, well it’s getting ready to rain. But he knows that if he doesn’t get up and go get his crop in and harvest now, he’ll lose it. He says to himself, those clouds look a little dark, I don’t know if I can go out, let’s see I’ve got my umbrella but there’s mud out there. And if he continues to make excuses for getting his harvest he will eventually miss his opportunity to reap.

Luke, Chapter 10. God wants us to know that we play a part in the harvest, just like we play a part in the sowing of the seed. Verse 1: After these things the Lord appointed 70 also, and sent them two and two before His face into every city and place, whither He Himself would come. Verse 2: Therefore, said He unto them, the harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth labourers into His harvest.

A great harvest means that they are ready to be gathered in. I’m talking about souls, I’m talking about finances, I’m talking about family, I’m talking about all the things that God said we could receive they are ready to be harvested.

2 Corinthians 9:6close2 Corinthians 9:6 The Cheerful Giver The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. (ESV) say, “This I say to you, he who sows sparingly shall reap sparingly, and who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully”. Who does the sowing? We do. Who does the reaping? We do.

The 91closeERROR: No results were found for your Psalm is the Psalm of Protection. There was a woman who was living her life quoting this, and walking by that Psalm; she would quote it often. But a time came when she put herself in a situation where she ended up getting assaulted and it was not good. She was assaulted and she got angry with God, she said, “Lord I’ve been standing on the 91st Psalm; why did this happen?” She called a prayer line, for support. The person who was going to help her wanted to know a little more, and he asked her to tell him a little bit more about the incident. He said it just doesn’t seem right if you were standing on God’s word, so he inquired. He asked her, “Well when you were going in that area, did you have a check at all in your spirit?” And sure enough she did. She said you know I did, I had a little check in my spirit that I shouldn’t go in there. But she just knew the Word would protect her. So there’s the answer right there, we are to be led by the Holy Spirit and when He says don’t do something and we ignore His voice, we can fall into harm’s way. When we don’t listen we have stepped right out of His protection.

Jeremiah 5:24closeJeremiah 5:24 24 They do not say in their hearts,
‘Let us fear the Lord our God,
who gives the rain in its season,
the autumn rain and the spring rain,
and keeps for us
the weeks appointed for the harvest.’ (ESV)
Neither say they in their heart, let us now fear the Lord our God that gives rain, both the former and the latter, in His season he reserves unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest. You see this is an Old Testament Scripture, but we are New Testament Holy Ghost led people of God. We’re not trying to be led by the Spirit of God, we are led by the Spirit of God. So, we need to know what season it is. Well, I have good news for you: It’s harvest time!

The Holy Ghost will tell us when it’s time to reap, and He will show us how to reap. So reaping has a lot to do with obeying the Lord’s voice, obeying and listening. He will tell us when it’s time to reap.

Classic example was Peter. You’ll remember when Jesus came to Peter (Luke 5:3-6closeLuke 5:3-6 Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. (ESV) ) and asked for his boat He wanted to go across the lake, and Peter sowed a seed into Jesus’ ministry, his boat. And Jesus said, Peter, cast your net. Peter said Lord, we have toiled all night long. Peter was reasoning, trying to figure out why. Peter was thinking I have been fishing all my life, I know about fish and we have been here all night. But then Peter did something we all need to do. He obeyed. He said these most powerful words; “Nevertheless, at thy word.” And so he cast his net. Then he had a net full of fish that was so big he couldn’t haul it in by himself. That is called reaping a huge boat sinking harvest. And how did Peter know, how and when to do it? Jesus told him. And how do you and I know when and how to do it. Jesus tells us.

We have got to be willing to take action when things don’t make sense to us. If the Master has a request of us, obey His word. There’s a harvest that you and I must go get. Logic has robbed so many Christians of their harvest; reason and logic. See when we know how to do things it’s hard to obey what does not make sense to our minds. I know how to fight a fire. I know how to do EMT work, I was trained for 27 years to be ready to go, to do exactly what I was trained to do at the Fire Academy.

But, if I hear that voice: “No, don’t go” and it simply does not make sense. That’s not the time to say Lord, what does that mean? But when I realize it’s the Spirit of God saying “Don’t Go” there is a reason. He sees danger that I can’t see. So we listen to the voice of the Spirit and stop allowing ourselves to doubt His voice through our own reason and logic.

The harvest needs certain things to protect it before it can be harvested.

For example, if I have a bumper crop there’s things I need as it’s maturing. I need rain to prepare the ground and plant my seed, and I also need protection. Because if the crop looks good, then bugs like it too, and they will come in to devour what you have.

Turn to Malachi Chapter 3. What likes crops? Bugs, that’s right bugs and other things. Now, look at this because you and I can actually be affecting our harvest by a simple thing called, “I don’t want to do what God told me to do.” That may sound hard, but I didn’t say this; it’s God’s word. I’m just a preacher; you can stone me and another one will come along and say the same thing. Malachi 3:10closeMalachi 3:10 10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. (ESV) “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse. He says; Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be meat in my house and prove me now herewith saith the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven. Now, what will happen is when the windows of heaven open, rain comes on your crop. And what does rain do? Rain provides the nutrients necessary for all your boat-sinking crop to come in.

What is our responsibility? To bring in the tithe. But a lot of people have a hard time with this scripture. They say they love God and will obey him. But when it comes to the tithe, that’s not for me.

He says He will open the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it and God the Father, will rebuke the devourer for your sakes. Yes the devourers; those little nasty bugs that like to eat our harvest. They like to eat at our family members, they like to steal the Word of God. They like to eat stuff and bother us.

God said He, Himself will rebuke all those little nasty bugs that are trying to destroy your crop. He will rebuke the financial destruction that is trying to come destroy your harvest I will do it, God says.

And there’s more good news. We are all here today because someone sowed in prayer for you and me.

There are words that have been spoken. There are seeds that have been sowed that nobody has reaped yet. I believe the Spirit of God and the eyes of the Lord roam to and fro all over the earth, looking for those whose hearts are perfect, or are at peace with Him. Why? So that He can bless your socks off.

These blessings are not for heaven, they are not for us when we get to heaven. In heaven why would I worry about blessings? These blessings of the harvest are for right now, right here. They are so that we can be a blessing to others. Hallelujah.

I brought this for illustration. This is a prescription medication bottle. It was prescribed by a doctor. I have no problem with doctors. Sometimes I have a problem with medicine. See, I don’t want any of us to become so dependent upon them that we have more faith in the prescribed medicines,

than we do the Word of God. You can ask any doctor and they will say that they can’t heal you, but they can start the healing process, they can help us. If you were to get this medicine, and you ignored the instructions, you would not receive the benefit of this.

I’m inviting you to join me as I make a mandate at Father’s House Church. We are going to call this a week of immersion into God’s word. So what we are going to do as we undertake this, we will take our medicine. And here’s the prescription: I want you to take this Word I am about to share with you three times a day every day. Write it down three times a day. I want you to take the medicine of the Word. Why? Because it says a merry heart does us good.

How do we take this Word? I know everybody’s got a different schedule, most everybody works. I want you to find medicine for whatever you are personally going through, find scripture that fits your personal situation. If you personally are having trouble in areas of un-forgiveness, I want you to take the Word of God and find some Scripture on un-forgiveness; take your medicine. If you’re dealing with financial issues, take your medicine. Find scriptures that talk about how God has supplied every financial need. Put these in your mouth, this medicine, meditate on it, read it, read it out loud so your ears hear it. If you are dealing with sexual issues you find Scripture on sexual issues and what to do about bondage, or if you’re dealing with pornography you get in the Scriptures and you say them.

This is a week of immersion, a week to immerse ourselves in the Word of God. Say to yourself, “I’m going to break this by the Word of God, I’m not going to allow things other than Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit to control me. There are many in this room that are being controlled by outside forces and not by the Spirit of God. But in the Name of Jesus, we must break this. For ourselves and as a church; if you’ll participate, you’ll receive the benefits.

Just like a person with the doctor who says he wants us to take medicine three times a day for a week. If you don’t do it, you won’t get the benefits. If you want the benefits, take advantage of this.

I’m not going to tell you what to do. I want you to get in here (The Bible) and find it yourselves. And also Thank God, we can use Google, ask for all scriptures on depression, or give me all the Scriptures on financial difficulties, or any unique situation, you can find them. There are many Bible apps out there also you can use.

Let me end with a powerful testimonial, from Brother Copeland’s recent message, there was a woman who was a minister and her dad was a minister, she worked for him in ministry. She began to feel bad and she ignored it. Then when she felt worse she went to a doctor where they told her she had a type of Lymphoma cancer. She went home and was fearful and depressed, they told her she didn’t have long to live. She became very discouraged, which is normal for anybody that just received very bad news. So she had a choice. Go home, grab the remote control and put on as the world turns and just sit there and say woe is me. Or, you can say okay, that’s a report. But Jesus’ report is “by His stripes I am healed . . .” So she went home and became depressed. Her father walked in the room and saw her and said, “Physician Heal Thyself”. Now she knew what this meant, she was also a minister of the Gospel. Her dad said basically; “You can sit there wallowing in your pain, but you know what to do, you know the Word of God, now get in it and immerse yourself.”

She had been given 30 days to live, so she got to work. Three times a day she immersed herself. She said after the 25thth day, she didn’t feel anything different. But every day she immersed herself in the Word of God building herself up. Then on the 28th day, she went to the doctor, he took x-rays and looked at them, then he asked for another doctor. Then a third doctor came in, then they all said we need a specialist. All the doctors were in the room. And one of them said, “We don’t know what happened here, but there is no trace of cancer in your body”. Hallelujah! A merry heart doeth good like a medicine. This woman knew Jesus Christ as the great physician and that the Word has power, and the Word reminds us that everything we ever need, Jesus has already provided. Hallelujah! Look what the Lord has done! He touched my body, He healed my mind, He saved me, just in time! I’m gonna praise His name! Lord we say thank you. Sincerely, Thank You, Thank You.
